Thank you Karen. Yes I do accept friends on facebook where my name is Dressage ForTheRestOfUs.

I'm fine with the label purist! But most of all, I just want to see horses ridden without the pain of the abuse. Anything which is abused for our pleasure just kind of reminds me of the ancient Roman coliseums where countless humans and entire populations of animals (like those from North Africa) where killed to entertain the bloodthirsty crowds.

Some of the abuse we see can also be categorized as unintentioned in a way. Allow me to explain as I've done my own bit of this. It's the type of stuff we have done where to get a horse to comply you jerk the crap out of his mouth or use the whip more than you should not to be cruel but because this is how you were taught to get results.

How many times have I heard instructors yell to riders who were children "Jerk his face!" "Rip his mouth off".

Yes, I have heard this said to children. Numerous times. So instead of teaching the children technique and tact we teach them violence.

      And the circle continues.

I would love to have you as a Facebook friend.

        Hi
yes I have to agree with you and the
kindness needs to be instilled starting
with the kids. How often do you see
kids sitting on their pony at a show, like it was a park bench.....I look forward to being your friend.

Well, us girls can dream right?

I hope one day you do find your "nirvana complete". I hope we all do. That magical moment.
